When is Cataclysm Classic Phase 3? October 2024!

Thanks to the 2024 Classic roadmap, we know that Cataclysm Classic‘s content rollout will continue with the release of Phase 3 in October 2024. An exact date isn’t known at this time but if we correctly guessed the July release date of Phase 2, then we can expect Phase 3 to begin the week of October 8, 2024 with the new raid launching on October 10, 2024. 

Even though October is still a ways off, let’s look at what we can expect Phase 3 to bring to Cataclysm Classic.

What’s in Cataclysm Classic Phase 3?

• The Firelands raid
  • Normal Difficulty: 10 and 25 player
  • Heroic Difficulty: 10 and 25 player
• Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest (2H Legendary Item)
• Firelands Invasion questline
  • Molten Front daily quests
• Elemental Bonds questline

At the very least, we can expect Cataclysm Classic Phase 3 to reflect the original patch 4.2 release and have the Firelands raid, the Mount Hyjal zone, new questlines, and a new legendary item to collect. The Firelands is a level 85 raid with 7 bosses with 10 and 25 player options in both Normal and Heroic difficulties. Slaying a Molten Lord in this raid is one of the ways you can kickstart the questline that eventually rewards you with the legendary Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest staff.

Two level 85 questlines go live in Phase 3 and are available to both Alliance and Horde players. The first one is the Fireland Invasions questline which eventually unlocks the level 85 Molten Front sub-zone within Mount Hyjal and will have daily quests for players to complete and earn reputation and rewards with the Mount Hyjal factions. Players that have completed the Mount Hyjal zone can start the Firelands Invasion through the breadcrumb quest, Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion. If you haven’t completed the prerequisite quests, you’ll get the other breadcrumb quest Guardians of Hyjal: Call of the Ancients which will help you get started.

Elemental Bonds is the other questline players can experience in Phase 3 and can be started by picking up the quest The Call of the World-Shaman in Mount Hyjal. This questline is more narrative focused, centering on making Thrall whole again after an unfortunate encounter with the Fandrel Staghelm.

One of the big question marks about Phase 3 is the Cataclysm Classic version of Titan Rune Dungeons which would add another set of difficulty modifiers and the 10-player Normal raid gear from Phase 2’s raid dungeons to the dungeon loot pool. There hasn’t been any new information since BlizzCon 2023 about this system moving forward, so we have no idea if it’s still a possibility or not.

Phase 3 is a long ways off from now so there’s still plenty of time to learn about new things coming to Cataclysm Classic, or for things to change!
